London Heathrow Airport Train Transfers

Heathrow Express

Heathrow Express is a direct, non-stop service that takes 15 minutes to reach London Paddington (21 minutes to go to and from Terminal 5). Trains depart every 15 minutes.

Trains depart from Heathrow Central Station (Terminals 2 & 3) or Heathrow Terminal 5 station. To connect with services from London and Terminal 5, a free transfer service runs between Terminal 4 and Heathrow Central.

Elizabeth Line

Trains depart every 30 minutes along the Elizabeth Line, which provides a stopping service from Paddington to Abbey Wood via downtown London. Calls for connecting trains to Reading at Hayes & Harlington. Beginning in 2023, it will also serve the route to Shenfield.

London Heathrow Airport is served by four stations on the London Underground's Piccadilly line: Hatton Cross services the maintenance facilities; Terminals 2 and 3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 serve the passenger terminals. Heathrow Central to Central London typically takes 40 to 50 minutes to travel by car.

The expansive Heathrow Central bus station, which serves Terminals 2 and 3, is the starting point for several bus and coach services. Additionally, services are provided from the bus stops at Terminals 4 and 5. Terminals 2 and 3 are close to one another by foot.

The Elizabeth Line, Heathrow Express trains, and the London Underground Piccadilly Line all offer transfers between Terminals 2 and 3 to Terminals 4 and 5. London Buses routes 482, and 490 directly connect between Terminals 4 and 5.

Transportation between terminals is free on specialized buses for transit users who are still airside.

Heathrow Pod

The Heathrow Pod personal rapid transit system operates a fleet of 21 compact, driverless transportation pods that convey people between Terminal 5 and the business car park. Each four-kilometer-long, battery-powered pod can accommodate up to four adults, two children, and their luggage. They operate on demand. There are plans to expand the Pod system to link Terminals 2 and 3 to outlying parking lots.

The Transit

The Transit, an automated underground people mover system, connects Terminal 5's main terminal with its satellite Terminals 5B and 5C. The Transit uses Bombardier Innovia APM 200 people movers for all airside operations.
